20/01/08: Brouwersdam

The first day of the year will probably be one of the windiest this year. About 25 knots WSW were forecast, but at Brouwersdam it was blowing about 35 knots with gusts up to 40. My XFlex 4.0 and DaCurve 85 were obviously quite big for these conditions (especially the 85 ltr board). However, with the sail trimmed really flat I managed to be in control most of the time. I even scored a few bottom turns and jumps on the traditionally very small waves at Brouwersdam...

Check out this video of some dude named Barry made on the same day at the same spot:

Hopefully we'll get some proper waves next time.

Mahalo!

Céad Mile Fáilte

Hi there and a hundred thousand welcomes to my blog!

This blog will mainly be about my exciting [wind]surfing adventures in the low lands and far beyond. Occasionally some other - obviously less exciting - stories will be posted here as well.

I'll do my best to post some pictures and/or videos every once in a while, because often one picture is worth more than a thousand words. However, no camera can really capture the true experience of an exciting day on the water. Ok ok, enough with the philosophical bullcrap already...

Anyway, since the term "plankzeiler" is probably not very well known for all you non-Dutch speaking people out there, here are some convenient translations:
- véliplanchiste
- Stehsegeler
- seilplankryer (Afrikaans is the best)
So now you know who you're dealing with :-)

Slan!
